Hi I'm Dr Laurie Parman.
I taught for 22 years in School District 300. In my observation our District 300 isn’t doing a very good job of their primary mission - which is to make sure that students can read and write and do math at an acceptable level. To most people an acceptable level would be about 80% proficiency.
Our district is well below that and in fact, it’s under 50% in both math and literacy. It’s time to give someone else a chance to make things better.
I’m running for the school board in District 300, because I think we can do better, and I am just the person to help guide this district.

Embrace Teachers, Reject the Unions
Am I trying to "bust our union"?
Definitely not - I'm "poking the bear" (the union) in order to nudge them back into being the support for teachers they should be.

The State of our Teachers
Teachers are bearing the crushing weight of new mandates. They are being asked to do more, while at the same time being put under the stress of constant changes to reading series, testing instruments, Information storage platforms, and other stressors.
District data shows our teachers are using their sick days at an alarming rate. 50% of teachers were absent 10 or more times last year. Some would say, “This is shameful!”
I say, “I wonder why this is.”
